General Information
Congratulations on your first steps in hiring a foreign nanny or au pair. For many of you, this will be your first time hiring a caregiver. Our goal is to make it as simple as possible for you and your family. The following information is a general guideline.
- Live-in Nannies and Au Pairs must be provided their own living quarters which includes, own bedroom and bathroom.
- Nanny work schedule should not exceed 45 hours per week, or 10 hours per day. Nannies should be given 2 consecutive days off per week.
- Nannies must receive at least 2 weeks paid vacation per year.
- The Nanny's sole responsibility is that of the children. Additional household chores should be relating to the children's needs, such as children's laundry, bedding, play area, etc.
- The Nanny must be treated with respect at all times.
- The Day Nursery Act (DNA) states that caregiver ratios should not exceed 4 children per childcare provider.
- Au Pairs usually work a short term placement from 4-6 months
- Nannies usually work a long term placement from 6months-12months
- Airfare is usually paid for by host family
- Visa and documentation required is paid for by Nanny or Au Pair
