Congratulations on your first steps in hiring a foreign nanny or au pair. For many of you, this will be your first time hiring a caregiver. Our goal is to make it as simple as possible for you and your family. The following information is a general guideline.
Live-in Nannies and Au Pairs must be provided their own living quarters which includes, own bedroom and bathroom.
Nanny work schedule should not exceed 45 hours per week, or 10 hours per day. Nannies should be given 2 consecutive days off per week.
Nannies must receive at least 2 weeks paid vacation per year.
The Nanny's sole responsibility is that of the children. Additional household chores should be relating to the children's needs, such as children's laundry, bedding, play area, etc.
The Nanny must be treated with respect at all times.
The Day Nursery Act (DNA) states that caregiver ratios should not exceed 4 children per childcare provider.
Au Pairs usually work a short term placement from 4-6 months
Nannies usually work a long term placement from 6months-12months
Airfare is usually paid for by host family
Visa and documentation required is paid for by Nanny or Au Pair
